Ellen Raffelson Biography
1970’s to support our selves through school, my husband and I formed Leapin’ Lizards Ltd. A Handbag and Belt Business crafted from Leather and Snakeskin. Many were sold to all the top designers and Stores in Manhattan and The Miracle Mile, Manhasset NY, Cocoanut Grove and Up and Down the East Coast. Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Splendiferous and many others.
1975-80 Stain Glass was another interest of mine and was fascinated with Buckminster Fuller and started to design geodesic domes out of leaded glass.
1987- I formed Elle Wear a fun Tee Shirt Company where besides using the silk screen method I was intrigued by Jackson Pollack at the time and sold splatter paint shirts and people loved them.
1988-I studied Computer Graphics at State University N Y
1990- Elle Art was painting and selling a lot of large I call pop graffiti paintings inspired by Jean Paul Bousquit , Andy Warhol , Julian Schnaebell , Anne Lieberwitz and lots of others I admired when I lived and worked in NY. Continued painting and Exhibiting in Shows, Libraries, Restaurants & Private Collections. Member of The Long Beach Artist League and Society of Illustrators, NY.
1995-Group Show at The Agora Gallery in SoHo, NY.
1997-Incorporated ElleArt Designs–Restored Photographs, Greeting Cards and Party Invitations..
2001-03 Served on the Board High Point Friends of the Theatre.
2002-06 Chairperson of Community Exhibits for The High Point Fine Art Guild.
2003-Designed 2 Published Cook Book Covers.
2005-Viva Elle Artwear Original Handbags.
I also worked as a Docent at the Weatherspoon Museum at UNCG.
My art hangs in Galleries, Private and Public Collections.
2007-Most recently my Space Painting was featured on the CBS News Promo for the 10th Annual Artstock Artist Studio Tour.
The most gratifying part of art comes to me when I teach art to my students at Serendipity Art School in Greensboro, NC. And WOWING people of all ages with my Award Winning Space Painting Demonstrations.
