Artist's Statement

Early on in my career I started out in the photography industry. Restoring old photographs and learning the importance of light, color and composition. Gravitating to graphic arts and incorporating my talents through the computer I found myself using the skills I acquired through painting with the air brush, used to enhance photographs I worked on, to be a creative tool in my paintings.

I love whimsy and try to incorporate it in my works whenever possible. Acrylics are also my choice of medium. Art is a fun process for me and does not have to be such a serious business. We all make mistakes and as an artist you can correct them very easily. I found that the journey can be just as interesting as the results.

I let the creative process lead me. Bright and rich acrylic colors I utilized on canvas to give my subjects life and clarity. I am influenced by the modern masters, Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin, Warhol and Haring to name a few. But Hessam Abrishimi is my absolute favorite and I have been lucky to meet and speak to him about his ideas and techniques at his recent Gallery opening in Greensboro, NC.

The most gratifying part of art comes to me when I teach art to my students at Serendipity Art School in Greensboro, NC. and when I can WOW students of all ages with my award winning Space Painting Demonstrations, soon to be seen on YouTUBE.
